Deep Haven DHM-1022 – release date: Feb/19/2008…
The Temple Dynasty is a family: Diamond Temple, Rob Da Noize Temple, Christina Temple & Felicia Temple.
Diamond is the front man, the one everyone recognizes from the first note he sings. He insists, however, that it is the family that makes him shine.
Diamond Temple’s rich, soaring tenor and lyrical sensibilities make any project with his name on it shine. The 1994 single Love’s Masquerade (Kaleidiascope Records), with Kenny Bobien arranging and singing the background vocals, has become a classic in the dance genre. A year later, 280 West Featuring Diamond Temple recorded the still popular gospel dance track Lift Him Up (1995 & 2006 – King Street). Lift Him Up was a treasured project for Diamond because it brought his mother, and other members of his family into the studio together.
There was a period during which Diamond had left the music industry to for the challenge of being a husband and a father …he refers to his family as his heart, his life… but he returned to music in mid-2003. This time around, he wanted to be sure it was all about family, so he brought in his brother and his daughters to create Fly (2004 – Phuture Sole Recordings). Diamond & his brother, Da Noize, composed the music. Diamond wrote the lyrics and 280 West’s Mark Mendoza worked with Da Noize to do the production. The song met with much acclaim for its lyrics, for its music, for the haunting quality of Diamond’s voice and for that gorgeous chromatic harmonica (William Gallison). This family effort & this teamwork are integral to every Temple Dynasty project.
Rob Da Noize Temple is the veteran of the Temple Dynasty. He was part of the band in which Barbara Tucker started her career as a dance music diva. He has been working in the music business for over 30 years.
Da Noize has produced and arranged tracks for labels including MCA, Strictly Rhythm, Freeze, Quark, Jive, Warlock, Permanent, e/Legal, Kaleidoscope, King Street/Sony, Holland Group and Lawton Records. Da Noize shows his versatility on productions by Mtume, BT Express, Patrick Adams, Holland Dozier Holland, Keith David, & Zoe Ministries. Da Noize was also the musical producer, along with his partner John Miller, for the 50th anniversary tribute to legendary actress/choreographer, Carmen De Lavallade at the Millennium Theater as well as the Tribute To Black Broadway, honoring Sidney Poitier, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, George Faison, Louis Johnson, Eartha Kitt, Lloyd Richards and George C. Wolf, held at The Schomburg Center. His work outside of Temple Dynasty projects continues, especially on projects involving the physically handicapped (KripHop), but his work with Temple Dynasty is near and dear to his heart. Working with Diamond has, according to Da Noize, been a pleasure and a challenge. Certainly, they have a studio and performance synergy which are hard to ignore.
Christina Temple, Diamond’s eldest child, has a powerful and resonant voice that clearly belongs to a Temple family member. She appears on the backing vocals for Fly and for Lose Control. Expect to hear more from her.
Felicia Temple, the youngest daughter of Diamond Temple, has inherited the Temple artistry and grown up surrounded by music, music and more music. Felicia showed up on the house music scene as a vocalist in her own right with her arrangement of Fly (The Temple Dynasty Remix). Her sense of composition and her singing are nothing short of phenomenal. And they are the result of both inheritance and determination. She has continued, since the release of that song, to work on her own material as well as coming in to sing for Temple Dynasty projects. You will hear her on Fly, Lose Control, He’ll Give You Shelter and Keep Rising.
