Ozgur Ozkan needs no introduction, after countless productions on some of the industry’s most cutting edge imprints his place in progressive house history is certainly cemented. Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s Mistiquemusic imprint has reached a milestone with Ozgur’s new ‘Too Late’ single, the now legendary imprint is at a whopping 200 releases. Over that time they’ve brought the progressive house community some of the most exciting new talent combined with many of the genres most storied producers. What Mistique has achieved and how smoothly the label continues to run is almost unbelievable and they continue to discover some of the best new producers on the planet. This year we’ve seen Suffused, MSZ, Timewave, Deep Soul Duo and Deep Fog make great names for themselves on Mistique and it’s exciting to think what 2012 promises for even more new up and coming producers on the label. Hats off to Mistique for continuing to push the music they truly believe in.
Ozgur’s ‘Too Late’ comes with a nice selection for remixes from: Aquadro, CJ Art, Loquai, Sean McCellan and Simon Firth. The ‘Too Late’ original is a dark slice of progressive house with a great electric feel about it. The sounds are quite dynamic and have a vibrant feel to the while the sinister overtones create a very cool backdrop for the piece. It’s a very stripped down and minimal approach by Ozgur and that makes the ominous chords ever more apparent . They work perfectly over top of the bubbly synth elements and conjure up some hopefully emotions which certainly captivate the heart and imagination. Italy’s Aquadro and Poland’s CJ Art both deliver tough interpretation’s that focus on the wonderful dark elements from the original and expand on them quite nicely with fresh percussive elements and unique sound design. Loquai offers a great compliment here with a more minimal break beat approach that comes with a tough, punchy groove and a distinctly timeless feel. Sean McCellan who is well known for his outstanding productions on the Source Of Gravity imprint provides a deep and funky interpretation that is unique, cool and just oozes freshness. One of our favourites producers at the moment Simon Firth closes the package out with another excellent remix to add to his already incredible discography. Simon’s deep, trippy and forward thinking sound has come through perfectly yet again and he seems to continue to improve at an alarming rate. Great package as always from Mistique and once again a huge congrats goes out to them for their 200th overall release. Here’s to the next 200!
