Turkish producer Feri makes his debut on Russia’s Underground City Music this week for the labels 73th overall release.

Feri had an impressive run of releases over the last half of 2011 on Greek label Deepsessions and he has gotten 2012 off to a solid start with a new single for UCM entitled ‘Mental Dance’ which comes with mixes from: Coskun Yorulmaz, Franzid-D, Janatan Ramonda and Orelse.
Feri’s original leads things off with a wavering energy and some very poignant chords. The drums are outstanding; with shakers, claps and various other cool hits all working together very well. The melodies here are very unique and a bit eerie which sets a very unsettling vibe as the track reaches a short drop where your left with just the kick and piano for a brief moment. As the composition begins to build back up some big filtered sweeps bring the tension up and an additional sequence of keys is added which serves to enhance the already brilliant hypnotic effect. Cool stuff from Feri. The first remix is supplied by Coskun Yorulmaz who delivers large here with a slow builder. A huge DJ friendly intro starts the piece off and as the drum elements get added into the mix it begins to develop a galloping energy almost churning type energy. A wispy atmospheric breakdown serves to reveal a cool and interesting take on the melodic stabs from the original. It’s works amazingly well and the piece keeps it’s cool vibe throughout. Very good mix from Coskun. Franzis-D’s version is next and his tough beats hit hard right out of the gate, Franzis stays very true to the original theme of the record but with a tougher, stripped and more club friendly framework. Argentinean producer Jonatan Ramonda has been very quietly producing some amazing music over the last few years. His productions are praised by Derek Howell and he’s appeared on the top Mistique and Magnitude imprints. Jonatan’s ‘Mental Dance’ interpretation has proved to be a monster rework. Big psychedelic sounds, huge driving energy and very well processed dynamics. Jonatan has even managed to add a new melodic element to the record that when combined with his large break and monster builds creates an absolutely devastating remix which has turned out to be our favourite on the package. Greek producer Orelse closes the package out with his ‘Bigroom’ interpretation. It’s begins with a huge spacious groove that certainly has a big room type presence. The first break introduces some very club friendly patterns which develop into a real serious groove with big energy. A big escalating sweep builds tension as the drop is revealed. Here the sombre chords from the original are unleashed and the big panning sweeps serve to build the break up nicely before that thunderous groove comes storming back for a perfect big room finish. Quite a unique original from Feri and a very good pack from Underground City Music as usual.
